The Engineering Technician/AutoCAD Drafter will help a team of engineers and engineering analysts manage engineering documents using our engineering document management system (Meridian). Responsibilities
- At an intermediate level, performs technical design related to drafting and/or engineering support duties.
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, construction drawings and other technical information.
- Using computer-aided design software and equipment, prepares detailed engineering drawings, maps and graphs from provided materials such as previous drawings, layouts, detailed sketches and standard references. Clearly indicates revisions. Files drawings and drawing update documentation according to standard procedures.
- Assists in drafting solicitation documents using established procedures, formats and templates to support procurement and contract activities.
- Assists with field and/or office research related to field measurements, historical engineering drawings, equipment databases, microfilm, inventory, electronic document management system (EDMS) records and other technical records to design equipment and layouts, as well as to produce equipment ratings and facility statistics. Field research may involve various physical activities.
- Prepares basic specifications, materials and fixed capital unit (FCU) lists. Assists in setting up work orders and requisition entries. Performs data entry in the departmental engineering database.
- Prepares basic reports related to projects, work plans, equipment, assets and budgets. Assists with preparing more complex reports.
- Operates equipment, such as plotters, printers, copiers and scanners.
- Gathers engineering information by traveling independently to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as necessary.

Qualifications
- 3 years of experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis or drafting using computer-aided design software.
- Experience with engineering prints field verification
- Experience using Engineering Document Management System, like BlueCielo Meridian or EDMS
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with SharePoint
- Experience with Outlook
- Valid Driver's license
