A Teacher Assistant believes in the mission of TESG, to educate creative critically engaged citizens using an experiential curriculum that extends the classroom into the downtown Greensboro community. The Teacher Assistant supports the student academic learning goals through a teacher designed instructional program that centers experiential education, design-based learning, and social justice. The Teaching Assistant has strong collaboration and organizational skills as well as believes in community-based problem solving. The Teacher Assistant supports the design of integrated curriculum across disciplines to make learning engaging, relevant, and meaningful. Following the lead of the classroom teachers, the Teaching Assistant fosters an inclusive environment for students of all abilities and develops a respectful and compassionate community of learners.
- Qualifications: minimum Associate's degree or 48 semester hours in an institution of Higher Education and at least two years experience with children.
- Duties: helping teachers with classroom climate, student needs, and other delegated tasks; providing instructional support, scaffolding, or tutoring with individual students and in small groups; and supervising students in the classroom or other areas of the school. May be asked to serve as substitute teacher for a classroom when no substitute is located.
