JOB TITLE: Community Engagement Coordinator Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Communications Manager SALARY RANGE: $20-$25/Hour
SUPERVISES: None
JOB SUMMARY:
To coordinate and support major events and food drives while nurturing partnerships to benefit The Food Depot, in support of its mission and in accordance with approved policies, strategies and plans

Principal Responsibilities:
- Serves as primary coordinator of major events sponsored by The Food Depot, including by not limited to Souper Bowl, Stamp out Hunger Food Drive, and Neighbor to Neighbor Fund Drive
- Coordinates details for participation in events hosted by other entities to benefit The Food Depot
- Schedules food and resource drives throughout all nine counties of The Food Depot’s service area; works with the operations department to successfully implement drives, and tracks and enters data for food and resource drives; issues letters of appreciation to donors
- Organizes duties and schedules for volunteers and staff members to successfully participate in a wide variety of The Food Depot’s special events and other entities
- Updates and implements fundraising and event guidelines with guidance of the communications manager and development director
- Develops content related to food drives or special events and updates social media and website pages as delegated by the communications manager
- Develops newsletter content related to special events and food drives
- Partners with other entities, as appropriate, for mutual benefit to accomplish The Food Depot’s mission and leverage resources
- Solicits, schedules, and executes outreach opportunities to raise awareness about The Food Depot
- Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests
- Complies with all The Food Depot policies, procedures and systems
- Is consistently at work and on time
- Performs related duties as required or assigned; assists other departments as requested; may work evenings and weekends, as needed
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous nonprofit experience
- Experience managing multiple, ongoing projects
- Proficiency in managing a website platform for content updates (The Food Depot currently utilizes WordPress)
- Experience taking informal photos and gathering event-related content to share with different departments
Requirements of the Position
- Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant work experience (fundraising, event coordination, communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management)
- Maintain consistent communication with all departments to ensure event success
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office and a graphic design platform
- Must be a self-starter and well organized
- Must be effective at interpersonal communication and a team player
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet established goals and deadlines
- Detail-oriented as well as big picture-focused
- Must be able to multi-task
- Excellent time management skills
- Must have access to the internet/email when not in the headquarters
- Must be willing to work overtime, evenings and weekends
- Must be willing to occasionally travel and use personal vehicle as necessary in the performance of work-related activities; travel and mileage expenses will be reimbursed
- Must be committed to The Food Depot’s mission and be able to maintain strong, positive, collegial working relationship with staff, board members, donors, volunteers, and partner agencies
- Must be willing to contribute to maintaining an ethical, smooth and efficient working environment with staff, board and others. A sense of humor is appreciated.

Physical Environment
- Employee will spend 50% of the time working at a stationary computer terminal, 30% at The Food Depot’s events and external community outreach events, and 20% conducting internal and external communications in a variety of formats
- Position functions in an office, warehouse and outdoor environment
