Position Summary: The Fortune Society is seeking to fill the position of Group Facilitator. Under the supervision of the Director of Jail Based Services. The Group Facilitator will be responsible for conducting various evidence based and other core curricula workshops to incarcerated individuals housed in city jails. The candidate will facilitate workshops within the housing areas. Conduct individual assessments to complete service plans to support with transition to community and/or to State facilities, programs etc.
Plan, conduct and facilitate workshops and group activities specific to program module;
Follow DOC approved standard curriculum and manage all program activities;
Identify and submit all supplemental material to encourage innovative programming;
Create, prepare and submit daily attendance rosters, enter all required data;
Complete service plans to support with transition goals;
Maintain and monitor confidentiality of participant files;
Prepare and maintain reporting information – may include statistical data & narratives;
Process and submit all reports and documents accurately and in a timely manner;
Create an environment that is conducive to professionalism, learning and developing;
Establish standards that will ensure appropriate boundaries and suitable behaviors;
Maintain and encourage participant engagement, remain vigilant, and follow DOC directives- reporting any safety concerns to immediate supervisor;
Other duties as assigned;
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED certification required;
Some college required;
Experience facilitating groups, preferably with justice-impacted individuals preferred;
Adequate computer skills; Working knowledge of Microsoft, Excel and PowerPoint;
Ability to be flexible- Days/Hours subject to change in accordance with program needs;
Must be highly motivated and have excellent oral and written communication skills;
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish a plus;
Ability work within the constraints of facility guidelines which can include lock downs, screening of personal items including food and clothing restrictions, which can be changed at the discretion of the Department of Correction;
Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized vaccine (or approved for an exemption as a reasonable accommodation due to a qualified disability or sincerely held religious belief or other legal basis). Travel Requirements:
Required to travel to City jails.
Must be willing to travel between DOC facilities, if necessary.
May be required to travel to offices for meetings and/or trainings.
Physical Demands:
Ability to walk and stand for extended period of time.
Ability to travel corridors and walk up and down stairs frequently, daily.
Ability to remove yourself expeditiously if any risks are presented.
