Description
Seeking a highly talented and motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to support drug discovery and development efforts in Virology.
The candidate will work in a highly productive team environment in collaboration with other research functions to create data analysis tools for investigation of viral and immunological drug targets.
The individual will collaborate with Biologists and other Bioinformatics Scientists on projects to explore viral sequencing, viral evolution and diversity, host immune datasets, and responses to small molecules and biologics.
This role will be part of a team that works on bringing antiviral small molecules and biologics to market for variety of viruses including HIV, HBV, and SARS-CoV-2
Required Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- A new PhD or 3 years of experience with MS degree in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, genomics, or a related field.
- Top 3 Required Skill Sets: Next Gen Sequencing Analysis, Bioinformatics Analysis Tools, Programming
- Thorough understanding and interest in biology/immunology with the demonstrated ability to contribute to scientific efforts focused on understanding diseases
- Background in next-generation sequencing data analysis
- Strong programming and scripting abilities in languages such as Python, R, C , C#, Java
- Experience with open-source bioinformatics tools / packages (GATK, Bioconductor, etc)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Top 3 Nice to Have Skill Sets: Phylogenetics, Immunology Analysis Tools
- Knowledge of virology and immuno-informatics tools and datasets
- Experience in database design and writing queries for SQL and document databases
- Experience evaluating genetic variation in populations using phylogenetics
