A Day In The LifeAs a Director of Data & Business Intelligence, you will spearhead the design and implementation of the data platform and reporting architecture focused on the financial services group, playing a pivotal role in driving business process transformation and strategic data initiatives. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the development and maintenance of enterprise data models, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and optimizing data structures to meet evolving business needs. You will collaborate closely with business leaders, data scientists, subject matter experts (SMEs), and IT professionals to enhance the organization's data capabilities and ensure data integrity, governance, and security. Your expertise will support the development of data-driven insights and solutions that align with the financial services group's strategic objectives and facilitate informed decision-making across the organization.
As a Director, Data & Business Intelligence you will:
- Leadership:
- Lead a team of internal and external resources delivering Data Governance, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence.
- Data Architecture:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the enterprise domain data model to ensure it meets the current and future needs of the financial services group.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage, optimize and implement enhancements to the data platform, aligning with evolving business needs.
- Establish and enforce data integration patterns, access controls, and security standards to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement robust data security measures to protect sensitive information, including encryption, anonymization, and secure access protocols.
- Develop and enforce role-based access control policies to ensure appropriate data access permissions and minimize the risk of unauthorized access.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with enterprise IT and Data & Analytics functions to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide standards and guidelines on data architecture.
- Data Governance:
- Define data owners (i.e., business owners/data stewards) to ensure data governance and quality.
- Develop and enforce data governance practices across the financial services group, including alignment of policies, standards and procedures with enterprise Data & Analytics function.
- Enforce data monitoring and quality controls to identify and eliminate redundant data stores and ensure data management practices comply with regulations and data security best practices.
- Business Intelligence:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of business intelligence reports, ensuring they meet the needs of the business.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of reports, dashboards, and analytics to stakeholders.
- Key Shared Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with product owners to provide insights into the financial services group data landscape, aiding in development of product roadmaps.
- Work with financial services portfolio lead to prioritize data-related projects, ensure investments and cost are accurately evaluated.
- Partner with enterprise change management team to communicate data related changes effectively across the financial services group, review and approve training resources, and champion importance of data governance, quality and security.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's Degree Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master's Degree Preferred
- 8-10 years of experience in data architecture, data management, and governance, with a focus on designing and implementing enterprise data solutions.
- Deep understanding of data architecture principles and best practices, including data modeling, warehousing, database design and data governance frameworks and tools.
- Proficiency with data migration principles and experience with migration of mission critical databases across multiple database platforms.
- Hands-on experience with data management technologies such as SQL, ETL Tools, data lakes, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and data visualization tools; Familiarity with machine learning and AI technologies is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with executive business leaders defining and delivering data strategies with strong ability to build relationships of trust. Ability to partner and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- (Preferred) Experience working in or supporting data transformation topics in the automotive or financial and insurance services space, understanding the unique data requirements and regulatory challenges within this sector.
Physical and Environmental RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
Travel Requirements20% Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis).
