Job Description

This position will be available to load/unload any shipments involving pallets, pallet jacks, and pallet lifters and other heavy equipment. This position is responsible for checking the contents of the shipment and signing the appropriate papers. In addition, this position will maintain an accurate inventory of both curriculum and non-curriculum items and supplies, and update that inventory on a daily basis. This position also pulls, checks, packs and labels customer orders. Additionally, assemble course sets and book packs, stock the “pull area”, and be responsible for the cleanliness  and organization of the facility. This position will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all job functions.

1. Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped.
2. Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
3. Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department.
4. Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate methods.
5. May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed.
6. Prepare parcels for mailing.
7. Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
8. Wear the proper safety equipment.
9. Exercise safety and constraint when moving pallets with company equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 50 pounds. 

Be able to pull/push up to 500 lbs. Pallets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are between Monday through Friday 8:00am - 2:00pm. Expected hours: 18-29 per week.  (Employees required to work a minimum of 3 shifts a week)

Required Education and Experience

• Excellent work record while handling pallets with company equipment and shipping packages and orders
• Forklift training upon hire
• Must be 18 years of age or older
