Web Developer

We are seeking two Web Developers to join our team, one in Mansfield, Ohio and the other in Fort Wayne, IN.
Key responsibilities will be the design, development, maintenance and implementation of web applications. A background in SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS will be instrumental in creating accessible, user-friendly, and data-driven web applications; furthering our commitment to cutting-edge technology and customer service.
Essential Functions
- PHP development and programming.
- Assist with maintaining company’s business web applications to ensure the applications are stable, high performing, customizable and upgradeable.
- Seamlessly integrate SQL databases with web applications to manage and retrieve data, ensuring data accuracy and security.
- Work with interface designers to craft intuitive and responsive user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and
JavaScript, emphasizing user-focused experiences and voice-of-customer input.
- Implement APIs to enable smooth communication between web applications and other Gorman-Rupp information systems, including ERP, CRM, PIM (Product Information Management) and payment gateways.
- Collaborate with business analysts to define and document requirements.
- Develop interactive data visualization tools, to aid in monitoring and analyzing information related to our products, markets, customers and internal operations.
- Translate requirements to design, architect and document code that is stable, reusable, scalable, secure and efficient.
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimal performance of the web applications.
- Rigorously test and debug web applications to uphold performance and security standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve program errors or database issues.
- Work as a team leader and provide technical leadership to the Web Application Development team as lead developer.
- Design, develop, and install enhancements and upgrades to web applications.
- Conform to IT Audit requirements, including source code documentation and change management process.
- Understands principles of secure code development.
- Create comprehensive documentation for web applications, including user manuals and technical guides, emphasizing clarity and simplicity.
- Provide technical advice, assistance and training to team members.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers, adeptly addressing issues related to web applications and database integration.
Education/Certification
B.A. or B.S. Degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering or Computer Science, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience Required
Minimum 8 years preferred, direct experience in web development.
Technically fluent in programming languages such as PHP, SQL, Javascript, HTML5 and CSS.
Working experience of database design and management.
Experience with REST API development and integration.
Required Knowledge
Knowledge of PHP, SQL and database fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing e-commerce applications.
Experience with Magento / Adobe Commerce.
Experience with WordPress.
Experience with Mulesoft, Salesforce, PIM-ContentServ – all a plus.
Familiarity with fluid handling systems and other industrial technologies.
Experience with data visualization libraries and tools (e.g., D3.js).
Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
Previous experience working on projects related to industrial or manufacturing business systems.
Skills/Abilities
Strong ability to design, code, test, and implement highly complex to diverse web applications.
Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
Skill to train and provide technical assistance in web development to team members.
Strong customer-service orientation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate ideas and instructions in both technical and non-technical language.
Ability to conduct research into application development issues and products.
Highly self-motivated and directed.
