Job Summary
The Quality Specialist serves as the lead person responsible for the quality assurance activities associated with inspection, release, and nonconformance of The Gund Company products. The role supports implementation and improvement of the quality management system (QMS) at an individual manufacturing site within a global multi-site QMS. Team member works closely with the Value Stream Manager(s) to comply with customer specific requirements and the Enterprise Quality and Compliance Manager to meet QMS requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for leading site level Quality Management System maintenance including but not limited to:
- Non-conforming and corrective action processes
- Document control
- Internal and external customer audits
- Management of calibration process
- Production Part Approvals (“PPAP”)
- First Article Inspection (“FAI”)
- Quality at the source (In-process Inspection)
- Receiving testing and sampling inspection
- Communicate and update quality objectives/key measures for assigned manufacturing site
- Conduct training for essential quality needs to employees, including, but not limited to:
- Introduction to Quality Management System
- Internal Audit Training for team members
- Business Processes / Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain quality records for any applicable standards, certifications and regulations at the site
- Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) Traceability
- National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA)
- International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Standards
- Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certifications
- Implement quality system improvements including procedure improvements to functions such as in-process inspection and calibration
- Assist and lead team improvement projects including Kaizen events and other lean initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong computer skills especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Prior experience with data entry and report analysis in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Ability to develop statistical process control and data analysis methods
- Strong math skills related to reading and converting technical drawings
- Project management skills
- Ability to communicate expectations and instructions to all levels of the organization
- Desire to identify root cause, develop creative solutions to problems and continuously improve systems and processes.
Education & Experience
- 5-10 years of experience as a quality-minded leader in an ISO9001 or aviation/space/defense (AS9100) environment,
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- American Society for Quality Certifications desired, but not required: Certified Quality Control Technician, Certified Quality Auditor, or Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Work Environment
The work environment is typical of most office environments; occasionally, the position will be required to be on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
