Summary
A Host greets, seats and offers a parting comment to all guests, answers the telephone and maintains sanitation, safety and cleanliness standards in his or her immediate work area and other assigned areas. The Host may also be responsible for taking, keying in, and packaging all take-out orders.

Essential Functions
• Prepares the lobby area for guests’ arrival
• Opens door and greets guests as they enter the restaurant
• Determines the guests’ seating preferences and advises guests of the wait time, if any
• Directs guests to bar area and maintains an accurate Wait List on a first-come, first-served basis
• Notifies guests when their tables are ready and leads the guests to their tables
• Provides an appropriate menu to each guest at the table
• Responds professionally to guest comments and questions
• Answers the telephone and responds to guest inquiries
• Writes take-out orders from call-in and walk-in guests
• Processes, packs and collects payment for take-out orders
• Assists Servers by refilling beverages, clearing plates and responding to requests from seated guests
• Cleans and maintains the lobby area
• Monitors the cleanliness of restrooms and the level of restroom supplies
• Offers a parting comment to departing guests
• Abides by all applicable laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages
• Follows all health, safety, sanitation and security standards
• Performs other duties that are incidental to guest service as assigned by the supervisor
Personal Appearance
The Host must be well groomed and neatly dressed in proper apparel throughout his or her shift.
Physical Actions
The Host must be capable of the following estimated percentage of physical activities for up to eight hours:
• 45% Standing • 5% Reaching • 45% Walking • 5% Cleaning
The Host is required to lift and carry soiled plates and glassware, supplies and packaged food that may weigh up to ten pounds, cocktail trays of beverages weighing up to five pounds, and racks of clean glassware that may weigh up to thirty pounds.
Environmental Exposure
The Host works primarily in climate-controlled dining rooms but is required to package “take-out” orders in the kitchen, resulting in exposure to heat and humidity. The Host is required to use a variety of cleaning solutions.
The Host interacts extensively with guests and team members with possible exposure to highly stressful or frustrating situations, which must be handled pleasantly and professionally. The Host is required to work with limited supervision.
