The Harris Center is looking for an experienced Psychiatrist to join our team providing Mental Health services to Harris County
About the Position
The Psychiatrist at The Harris Center operates under the direction of the Medical Director of Mental Health Service and the Unit Lead Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric treatment via psychiatric evaluations, medication maintenance, and crisis interventions. Following any evaluations, you will continue to consult on the patient’s case and prescribe rehabilitative therapies in addition to providing clinical leadership to the treatment team. You will also need to complete all required documentation associated with compliance.
Charting
- The agency uses Epic EHR
- Psychiatrists do their own charting, however 1 hour is set aside at the end of the day for charting
Supervision
- Psychiatrists may supervise from Advanced Practice Providers to Residents depending on comfort level and preference of the psychiatrist
- Additional compensation and an adjusted schedule for a lessened 1 on 1 patient load for psychiatrists who supervise

Practice Setting
- Located at one of the following locations:
- Southwest Community Service Center: 9401 Southwest Freeway, Houston TX
- Southeast Community Service Center: 5901 Long Drive, Houston TX
- Northeast Community Service Center: 7200 North Loop East Freeway, Houston TX
- Programs and locations can include: General, Forensic, or Substance Abuse
- Offers services or care to the underserved who have no ability to pay along with a mix of Medicare/Medicaid, private insurance and self pay
- Patients are mostly scheduled with some walk-ins selected for possible eligibility
- All patients are voluntary
Schedule
- Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
- No call schedule, call is covered by our Neuropsychiatric Center
- No weekends
Additional Earning Opportunities
- RVU program is in place
- For those who prefer it, there are opportunities for working extra hours:
- Working at Neuropsychiatric Center or Harris County Jail
- Moonlighting externally is allowed through an approval process

Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Medical School and Psychiatric Residency Program
- Texas Medical License (or in pending status)
- Board Eligible or Certified in either of the following:
- General Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent, Forensic or Substance Abuse
- Current DEA Controlled Substance Registration certificate
- Registered with the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)
- Willing to supervise either of the following:
- APRNs, PAs, Residents, and/or Medical Students
