The Hinckley Company, known for building and servicing, strong, seaworthy and beautiful yachts is seeking an experienced Carpenter for our production facility in Trenton, Maine.
Essential Duties
1. Transfer dimensions to marine plywood and other construction materials using tape measure, square and marking / layout devices.
3. Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints.
4. Layout, cut and assemble boat parts, such as doors, paneling, boxes, rails, and trim.
5. Good working knowledge of most woodworking joints in the marine industry, such as scarf, sill splice, lap, finger, and dovetail.
6 Skilled knowledge and use of epoxies and vinyl ester resins or other adhesives to bond parts.
7. Understands yachting terminology, local and industry, e.g., port / starboard, gump (trim molding) and bung (wood plug).
8. Use reading and writing, adding and subtracting of whole numbers and fractions.
9. Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks.
10. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean work area.
11. All work to be performed and manufactured to Hinckley quality standards.
12. Perform other related duties as necessary.
