About the Role

The Leadership Giving Officer engages the organization's individual donors in the work and impact of The Home for Little Wanderers (The Home) while expanding the donor base to upgrade and identify new leadership donors. This role will collaborate on identifying new major gift opportunities as well, with a focus of building pipeline for future major donors. This position requires a high level of professionalism, collegiality, self-motivation, and a strong belief in the mission of The Home for Little Wanderers. The Leadership Giving Manger reports to the Director of Development - Major Gifts.

How You Will Be Making a Difference

  • Identify new and existing prospects through research of news and local and national philanthropic landscape, and through the review and research of new and existing donors and prospects within the Raiser's Edge database.
  • Maximize use of Gravyty for donor stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation.
  • Utilize available research tools to qualify prospects and populate Raiser's Edge with wealth and philanthropic data on prospects.
  • Build and manage portfolio of 120-150 individual Leadership Donors and Prospects with a primary focus on upgrading gifts of $500 - $2,4990.
  • Manage relationships with prospective and existing donors in all aspects of the gift cycle including identifying, qualifying, and initiating contact with potential donors; developing appropriate cultivation strategies for moving potential donors toward solicitation and closure; making solicitations of major and planned gifts; and maintaining stewardship contacts with donors.
  • Develop understanding of and demonstrate commitment to the mission and full range of programs of the Home in articulating a clear and compelling case for financial support.
  • Educate and engage donors and prospects through tours, small-group gatherings, and other educational and volunteer activities in conjunction with appropriate staff members.
  • Partner with Special Events Team to solicit support for The Home's annual fundraising events.
  • Recruit hosts and attendees for small (home-, office-, and club-based) cultivation and stewardship events for prospects and donors.
  • Produce fundraising communications, including but not limited to letters, emails, newsletters, proposals, briefs, presentations, and reports. This includes drafting original copies and editing documents.
  • Work collaboratively with the Development team and all of the other departments of The Home, establishing working relationships with program staff throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate with Corporate and Foundation Relations staff to leverage individual donors' relationships to organizational funding sources and to identify individual major gift prospects from within existing or emerging corporate and foundation relationships.
  • Participate in overall strategic planning for development and the major gifts program in particular.
  • Motivate and facilitate Board of Ambassadors to identify new prospects.* In consultation with the Director of Development - Major Gifts, set annual individual fundraising goals; track solicitation amounts, anticipated gifts, pledges, and revenue; and provide regular revenue and cash flow updates on projections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in individual gift solicitation or direct equivalent
  • Expert interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience in volunteer management and fundraising program development.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Proficiency in Raiser's Edge is preferred.
