The Ijaz Group is a professional services firm providing managed accounting services to nonprofit organizations.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of client financial reporting. This position works with a team of internal accountants, client staff and produces regular financial reports. This position also maintains the integrity of the accounting system, oversees all journal entries, and development of accurate and time-efficient accounting procedures.
General Duties & Responsibilities
The essential job duties/responsibilities of the position are included in but not limited to the information listed below:
- Manages monthly close, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and producing and distributing financial statements. Ensures monthly close happens in a timely manner
- Works with our client's Development and Program staff to develop and maintain tools and processes for tracking, reporting, and reconciliation financial records and transactions.
- Track and monitor all restricted funding, ensuring accurate reporting to funders and budget to actual forecasting for client organizations.
- Partnering with the internal client accounting team to meet known and new needs, such as grant reporting or tracking, payroll tracking, reporting needs, and new payroll regulations.
- Maintain records of reports and documentation of procedures
- Prepares audit schedules, liaises with auditors, and prepares information for tax and registration requirements
- Assists in preparing information for the Form 990, charitable registrations and other tax returns as requested by clients.
Desired Experience and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Master’s Degree preferred
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 3 – 5 years of related experience
- Prior experience in outsourced accounting, having worked with and handled multiple clients at a time is helpful.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices and US GAAP
- Experience with large ERP systems and strong MS Office technical skills, specifically with MS Excel
- Knowledge of Sage Intacct accounting software is preferred. If not then at least experience with QuickBooks Desktop.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with a strong orientation to client service, time management, and project delivery.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. The title/salary range will vary based on the candidate's experience.
