Overview
The Institute for Family Health is a dynamic federally qualified health center (FQHC) serving 100,000 patients per year and operating a number of innovative clinical, training, and community outreach and advocacy programs.

The senior program development associate will support new project development and write, edit, organize and submit grant proposals to a wide array of funders. The associate will use their excellent analytical skills to engage executive leadership, clinical and program directors, and partner agencies in designing and planning new programs. They will apply knowledge of the organization, the health services delivery environment, and best practices in public health to develop proposals that address the needs of underserved communities and are attractive to funders.

This position is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure to community health services, programs and policy in New York City and New York State; collaborate with interdisciplinary health care and public health professionals; and participate in planning, program development, budgeting and evaluation for a wide array of community health initiatives.

Responsibilities
•    Provide day-to-day support to the Institute’s institutional giving activities, with the goals of assuring continued funding for effective programs and increasing grant revenues to support new initiatives.
•    Work closely with medical providers, social work staff and others to identify funding opportunities, develop program ideas, collect background information for grant proposals, advise clinical and program teams, and provide strategic problem-solving to assure the competitiveness of grant proposals.
•    Work independently to investigate potential funding sources, including federal and state governments and private foundations, to identify opportunities to sustain or grow the Institute’s clinical, community outreach, training and research programs.
•    Provide high-level coordination of processes by using knowledge of the public health field, critical analysis and strategy and planning skill sets to design initiatives that are promising, targeted to the needs of disadvantaged populations, and compelling to funders.
•    Serve as lead strategist and writer for proposals for high-visibility, large-scale, and/or new and emerging initiatives.
•    Conduct research and collect demographic and health data related to grant proposal development.
•    Provide day-to-day support and advisement to other development team members as they work on program and proposal development tasks.
•    Prepare and submit 10-15 small and large grant proposals annually, including: writing, editing and/or proofreading grant proposal narratives; developing budgets and budget justifications; and creating supporting documents.
•    Independently manage grant proposal development process; coordinate contributions from multiple staff members, and ensure that proposals are completed on time.
•    Ensure that grant proposals are complete and accurate, and adhere to funder requirements.
•    Prepare and maintain grant-related supporting materials and documentation.
•    Track deadlines for grant submission and progress reports.
•    Develop letters of inquiry.
•    Assist the Director of Institutional Giving and other team members with additional administrative, organizational and staff development tasks, as needed.

•    Minimum of 3-5 years related work experience required; minimum 2-4 years of professional grant development experience strongly preferred; experience with a health-focused not-for-profit or public agency preferred.
•    Demonstrated ability to write compelling content on deadline.
•    Please note: this position is primarily remote, however, occasional onsite work at our Harlem headquarters and other locations will be required. We are recruiting from the tri-state area only with the expectation that all applicants will be willing to present for onsite work as job requirements demand (generally no more than once a month).

Skills
