The Ion Center is looking for compassionate individuals that will support and serve victim-survivors residing in our Buffalo Trace shelter, ensuring that we are providing the best care and most welcome environment for them. Residential Crisis Intervention Specialists play a key role in the services we provide through case management and goal setting, leading group sessions, maintaining facility cleanliness, answering hotline calls, and addressing other needs as they arise. The Residential Crisis Intervention Specialist (1st Shift) works 4 days each week from 7am-5pm. The scheduled days would typically be Wednesday-Saturday, based on the needs of the agency.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Site and Program Management, provides full range of crisis intervention and case management services to primary and secondary survivors of crime, with a special focus on victims of partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking, assisting victims to work towards safety and self-sufficiency.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Applies ZeroV Program Member Service Standards and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) Standards for survivors of rape

Intake and Assessment.

1.1 Maintain client confidentiality

1.2 Field crisis hotline calls, texts, and chat.

1.3 Assess and identify client needs.

1.4 Provide and connect clients with community resources.

1.5 Assist clients with completing agency paperwork.

1.6 Aide clients in developing safety plans.

Counseling and Case Management

2.1 Provide trauma informed individual/ family and or group counseling.

2.2 Educate survivors on topics relevant to partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking.

2.3 Identifying client individual goals relevant to benefits, childcare, education, budget, and housing needs.

2.4 Transport clients to meet goals.

Advocacy

3.1 Provide support for clients as they navigate the legal system, including accompanying clients to court, educate on legal system, assisting clients on filing protection orders.

3.2 Support Ion Center in providing essential services to victims, including hospital advocacy on call, hotline, and emergency shelter.

3.3 Collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, medical staff, and social service agencies.

3.4 Assist clients with crime victim compensation.

Communication, Teamwork, and Administration Duties

4.1 Maintain client files and documentation.

4.2 Attend related meetings and trainings.

4.3 Report stats for funders.

4.4 Accept and disseminate donations.

4.5 Contribute to a clean, healthy, and trauma informed work environment.

4.6 Collaborate as a team across agency sites.

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, skills, etc.):

  • Knowledge and skills at a level typically acquired through obtaining a degree from an accredited college/university; or high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years related experience.
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care.
  • Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Outstanding empathetic and listening skills.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate on a team.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Complete trainings for funding requirements and knowledge building.
  • Must be a minimum age of 18.


MENTAL/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WHICH OCCUR REGULARLY IN PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • Speaking, seeing, hearing, standing, writing, walking, including climbing steps, carry, pull, lift, stoop, kneel
  • Using related office equipment keyboard and monitor, camera, copier, fax, phones, etc.
  • This position may involve exposure to infectious diseases and stressful situations.

This is an hourly position with a pay range of $18-$19.50/hour determined by education and experience.
