The Ivory Peacock is based in the Nomad area of Manhattan and is an 8,000 square foot cocktail-driven bar and restaurant. It has small plates that are Japanese & French inspired. Also, a menu with a beautiful raw bar program, a tasting menu experience, and the familiar flavors from both France and Japan. Our dishes are formulated from seasonal ingredients and the freshest produce - all that pair perfectly an extensive spirits collection. The two-level space features a subterranean cocktail lounge below that will operate as a post-dinner destination under the primary bar and dining experience.

The Ivory Peacock is creating high quality cocktail and culinary destinations that are approachable, fun, and satisfying. We are building neighborhood-driven experiences that are welcoming and act as an extension of the residents living room - a hub for entertainment, hosting, imbibing, meeting and hanging.

The Ivory Peacock is looking for barbacks/drink runners to work alongside the bar team to support the fast-paced and detailed beverage program 

We are looking for talented, efficient, and motivated barbacks to assist the opening bar team. You will work hand-in-hand with the beverage manager and bartenders to evolve our world-class bar service. 

As a Barback, you are an important part of the guest experience and flow of our beverage program. You will act as a key support member to the bartenders and bar manager in fulfilling detailed bar duties. Also, you will energetically deliver beverages to guests and describe them when necessary. Your speed, accuracy, and efficiency will all contribute to the flow of our bar service. It is important that you study and understand the details of your role to provide the exceptional service our guests expect. 

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Study and learn all of The Ivory Peacock service standards
• Participate in all of the company training requirements
• Properly represent the company in appearance and in actions
• Demonstrate a passion and willingness for excellence in performance
• Learn the variety of beverage items, garnishes, and mixers required for stocking 
• Understand the storage layout for all bar related items, and keep organized 
• Learn our signature cocktail descriptions and base ingredients
• Seek creative opportunities to enhance the overall guest experience
• Anticipate all guest needs while they are in the restaurant
• Complete all assigned side work duties for the shift
• Take care of all items and merchandise owned by The Ivory Peacock
• Maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards of the company 
• Comply with and display the safety standards of the company 
• Communicate important guest, staff, or business related information to management
• Immediately report any guest or staff emergency to a supervisor
• Participate in ongoing staff testing or continuing education activities provided by company

Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience as a barback or bartender in an upscale, high-volume restaurant/bar environment
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Ability to learn and describe The Ivory Peacock beverage items to our guests
• Capacity to learn and execute all of the teams stocking, inventory, prep, and side work needs 

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time
• Must be able to bend and lift to 50 lbs.
• Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion, movement and navigation throughout a bilevel venue
• Exposure to hot kitchen elements, raw foods, and/or cleaning materials.
• Must be able to remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends and holidays
