Assistant Buyer

The Assistant Buyer supports the Merchandise Buying team (General Merchandise Manager, Inventory Planner, Trade Merchandise Buyer, and Jewelry Buyer) by placing replenishment orders based on inventory need and sales performance to ensure consistent and ideal stock levels for the Getty Center, Villa, and online stores.
- Makes merchandise purchases and enters associated purchase orders in inventory management program
- Maintains product characteristics and vendor info in back-office POS system
- Assists in product additions to web store, provides product copy and photography, and communicates product updates to web team
- Merchandises new receipts and assists in special exhibition shop display set-up
- Oversees timely invoice payments by credit card, check, or wire transfer
Works with Inventory Planner to determine order quantities, location allocations, and timing of order deliveries
- High school/GED
- Some college and/or relevant related experience in specialty retail/bookstore preferred
- 2-3 years Assistant Buyer or related support experience in a merchandise environment
