Job Summary
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Investment Officer, the Manager/Director of Investment Operations will provide oversight and management for the operational and analytical functions of the investment office. S/he will oversee an operations team that will collaborate with the investment team to develop accounting and financial processes, procedures, and controls to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Trust's diversified portfolio. The operations team will also be responsible for gathering, organizing, and presenting data on investment performance and risk attributes with the goal of improving investment decision making. The Director of Investment Operations should be committed to and passionate about the Trust and its mission and should recognize and be excited about the opportunity to build a successful investment operations function, while contributing to the growth of the investment office.

Major Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will oversee a suite of operational and financial functions for the investment office. S/he will collaborate closely with the investment team across the funding of investments, performance reporting, data and knowledge management. Additional responsibilities include:
Articulating and leading an operations strategy that best supports the investment program
Building best practices, overlapping controls, and a best-in-class operational infrastructure to support the diverse investment strategy of the Trust
Leading the implementation of a data and analytical platform for asset allocation, manager analysis and direct investment
Standardizing document collection and recordkeeping system for new and legacy investments
Managing the process for on-boarding new investments on monitoring systems including with the custodian
Creating a flexible reporting platform that tracks all investment cash flows and returns
Assisting with the preparation of legal documents such as subscription and redemption documents
Implementing process improvements around AML (anti-money laundering), KYC (know your client) and portfolio management systems for the CIO and other Managing Directors
Overseeing a team of operations analysts in supporting the investment team and the director/manager of investment structuring and tax.
INVESTMENT OPERATIONS TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Gathering and processing all investment communications from managers, including statements, tax documents, letters, and reports
Producing regular portfolio attribution reports and analysis across managers, asset classes, liquidity, and time
Tracking investment liquidity by share class, creating reports on portfolio liquidity, track expected cash flows, and manage the process of redeeming from or adding to existing investments
Overseeing daily operational processes including coordinating investment related transactions including new subscriptions, redemptions, and all capital call and distribution activities
Reconciling cash, investment transactions and market values with custodian system
Preparing monthly performance estimates
Creating ad-hoc reports on portfolio attributes, private market commitments and cash flows, liquidity terms, and investment performance
Supporting audit processes, work with relevant departments and outside auditors as necessary
Supporting the investment team and director/manager of investment structuring and tax on ad hoc projects
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, including oversight of investment operations, finance, and/or data management functions, within a relevant buy-side organization, including family office, endowments, foundations, hedge fund, other asset managers, and consulting firms. Additional qualification include:
Strong understanding of investment performance calculation and reporting of public and private investments
Familiarity and comfort with overseeing and managing relevant outsourced service providers
Superior organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
Experience with software systems and implementation, relevant to investment/risk management
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to improving accuracy of data and preventing errors, yet able to effectively "see the big picture" and execute what needs to be done to accomplish goals and objectives
Strong computer skills (MS Office including Excel) and adeptness at learning new software. Familiarity with Burgiss and Caissa platforms preferred. Deep understanding of databases with a strong ability to write queries a plus
Ability to supervise staff with operations, financial performance, and data analytics/programming backgrounds
Superior ability for effective time management & meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, and ability to work well under pressure
A demonstrated ability to work effectively with all constituencies, including the investment team, Investment Committee members, and a broad array of other leadership
Responsive, can-do, service mentality
S/he must be enthusiastic about being part of the organization and contributing to its important mission
Experience recruiting, training, managing, mentoring, and inspiring junior colleagues
College or university degree required, advanced degree and/or CPA designation a plus
