Our mission is to transform the lives of our students who have learning differences by providing a holistic, individualized education in a diverse and nurturing community where each student belongs. We are a small K-12 school designed especially for students who benefit from academic or social support to feel successful.
Position Start Date: June/July 2024
Direct Report: The Director of Development collaborates and coordinates with the Campaign Director while reporting directly to the Head of School.
Position Summary: Directs and facilitates the school’s mission in the areas of philanthropy and donor cultivation while leading the annual fund, coordinating events, implementing the development/marketing/communications and stewardship plans, and actively supporting the capital campaign.
Hours: 30 hours, flexible hours days
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Philanthropy & Donor Cultivation (Lead):
- Build a collaborative fundraising team in partnership with the Board of Trustees and school leadership to develop and maintain donor and volunteer relationships.
- Plan and execute the Annual Giving program including data-driven decision-making based on metrics for success and growth year over year. Special coordination with the upcoming public phase of our Capital Campaign will require strategic donor and gift stewarding to ensure Annual Giving maintains its strength during the Capital Campaign and is poised to grow as result of the strengthened donor base and systems achieved through the Capital effort.
- Develop programming for major donors, mid-level donors, and general-level donors to increase their affinity with Crosland and cultivate renewals and increased giving levels.
- Work with the Parent Council to coordinate volunteer opportunities, annual gala, and other programs.
- Provide oversight and guidance to the Event Coordinator and volunteers to achieve a successful Annual Gala. This includes
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems to ensure accuracy and standards of operation are followed. Coordinate with Director of Fianance and the school auditors to ensure best practices are followed.
- Attend Board Advancement Committee meetings.
- Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive, proactive plan focused on retaining and expanding the donor base and increasing individual annual support of fundraising campaigns.
- Coordinate with the Head of School to identify major needs projects.
- Support all aspects of the Capital Campaign in general, and specifically become actively involved in the execution of the public phase.
Market Research & Communication:
- Create and implement a communications plan to support Annual Giving and the Capital Campaign. This includes supervising the creation of publications to support fundraising activities that include the Digital Impact Report and/or magazine.
- Support communications through weekly community newsletter, The In Orbit, about current and ongoing initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy, including social media presence.
- Engage Board, Parent Council, and other friends of Crosland to fully leverage social networks and centers of influence.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of fundraising experience is required.
- Experience in an educational setting is highly preferred.
- Annual Giving experience and demonstrated success in achieving goals and metrics is required.
- Ability to travel to visit donors and alumni and/or attend conferences as requested by the HoS. Will be required to work some evenings or weekends as needed.
- Capital campaign experience is desirable.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's and/or Certified Fund-Raising Professional (CFRE) preferred
- Familiarity with and commitment to principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
- An active listener and compassionate relationship builder, with a clear understanding of donor-centered fundraising.
- A dynamic, self-starter that thrives working with autonomy and as part of the leadership team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adheres to high standards of ethics and professional competence in delivering philanthropic services.
- Understanding of donor research and major donor pipeline processes.
- Knowledge of and ability to use fundraising databases and donor research tools.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
