Description

SUMMARY

As Sustainability Project Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the development of sustainability across Rand-Whitney from the ground up. This role will work closely with our Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) to drive the evolution and implementation of Rand Whitney’s sustainability approach. The position will also work cross-functionally with members of Rand Whitney’s Sustainability Council and other relevant subject matter experts to define roadmaps and execute on key initiatives.

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with sustainability subject matter expertise, who is highly collaborative and possesses strong project management, communications and analytical skills. The Sustainability Project Manager can work with minimal oversight, is a continuous learner and is able to see the big picture, while focusing on the details. This role will support the planning, monitoring and management of internal projects and roadmaps to help us achieve our goal.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support all aspects of sustainability programs by developing core processes for project prioritization, execution and tracking.
  2. Manage sustainability initiatives by utilizing project management tools to plan and execute projects working with internal teams.
  3. Plan and manage the Sustainability Council meetings and related materials.
  4. Prepare drafts of briefing materials and communications to support programmatic needs.
  5. Convene and manage subgroups that coordinate facilities and operations teams on specific topic areas by clearly articulating goals, progress, and outcomes of sustainability initiatives.
  6. Support implementation of environmental management system, and other certification schemes as needed.
  7. Collect, organize, and analyze sustainability data for internal and external distribution.
  8. Support the development of our greenhouse gas inventory, working in collaboration with consultants.
  9. Manage CDP and EcoVadis sustainability assessments.
  10. Influence and manage continuous improvement of project /program, processes and initiatives.
  11. Travel between company sites for meetings and trainings as required.
  12. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  13. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or sustainability sciences, environmental management, engineering, or business
  • 3-5 years of professional experience or master’s degree in a related field of work or (e.g., sustainability, environmental management, etc.)
  • Passion for driving sustainability achievements
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to structure and advance multiple cross-functional initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis on various topics and produce reliable metrics and data
  • High degree of flexibility, adaptability, and general ability to work within in a constantly changing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Understanding of sustainability principles, issues and the methods with which sustainability can be integrated into business operations preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental management systems (EMS) ISO 14001 preferred
  • Ability to influence others to achieve results
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Primarily located in an office setting with some work in a production environment
  • The noise level in the production environment is usually loud (80 dB).
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
