KCL started in 2009 when two sleep-deprived stay-at-home moms started blogging about saving money with coupons. Soon, the company grew to become the largest couponing site in the country, attracting regular national media attention and valuable brand partners.
Today, our team of 35 publishes real-time coupons, deals and editorial content to our website and app—all aimed to make it easier to shop smarter.
The Position
Exceptional writer, editor, researcher, marketer...you need to be all of the above to excel at this role. We’re looking for a digital writer-editor to help guide a team of in-office and freelance copywriters. You’ll work with the Director of Content Strategy and Social Media Manager to deliver best-of-web content that upholds KCL’s editorial style and voice.
What You’ll Do
- Work in-office most days to meet aggressive traffic and production goals.
- Assist with editing, researching, fact-checking and proofreading all Editorial content.
- Guide the copywriting team to articulate and execute the KCL voice and format.
- Conduct deep research and translate couponing/money-saving strategies into copy that is amusing and easy to understand.
- Correct grammar, style and voice like a ninja.
- Implement SEO best practices.
- Excel at article topic generation and headlines.
- Maintain awareness of competitors’ content and inform team of where we’re behind—and ahead.
- Monitor comments posted to articles on the website to determine if any problems or violations exist, taking appropriate action when necessary.
- Communicate with the team on a regular basis regarding day-to-day priorities, copy and production updates and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- A passion for research.
- A master at writing effective headlines that drive action.
- Insatiable appetite for details and getting to the bottom of a topic.
- Proven experience for developing audiences across web, mobile web and social accounts.
- Ability to set, manage and hold others accountable to firm deadlines.
- Familiarity with SEO principles.
- Knowledge of WordPress, Google Analytics and Google Docs Suite.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and adapt to last-minute changes.
- A willingness to be an active participant in team meetings and brainstorms.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Personal ambition to embrace challenges and go the extra mile.

As a KCL employee, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved with the KCL Foundation. Our team plays an integral role in bridging the gap for new refugee families arriving in our Boise community. We help nearly a hundred families every year to fill homes with new bedding and kitchenware, to provide new winter coats and shoes for local schools with high refugee populations, and to stock bathroom cabinets with a crapload of toothpaste and toiletries. And we do it all with coupons, duh.
