Mission: The Link works with youth and young families to overcome the impacts of poverty and social injustice.

Our 23 programs provide supportive housing, intensive case management services, and skills development to youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness, sex trafficking and/or involvement in the juvenile justice system.

Position Specifics

  • Hiring Salary: $22.08/hour

  • Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

  • Location: Southwest Surburbs, MN

  • Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours are flexible depending on individual and program need.

ABOUT THE POSITION

This position is responsible for the case management for The Link’s Passageways Emergency Shelter and Program which provides emergency shelter for youth who have been commercially sexually exploited. The Case Manager will ensure high quality case management and programming, including groups and social and recreational activities. The Case Manager is responsible for working directly with commercially sexually exploited and trafficked young people, ages 12-17, who have experienced homelessness, trauma and disenfranchisement and who will need high level case management supports to assist them in progressing toward their goals and accessing resources and services needed to stabilize and recover. In addition to case management the Case Manager is responsible for developing, supporting and implementing youth programming that is culturally competent and grounded in positive youth development, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.


Essential Functions:

  • Develop Individualized Service Plans for 8 youth in shelter, track and document incremental progress toward the achievement of goals.

  • Support and advocate with youth in the community

  • Meet daily/weekly with youth to identify service needs and provide support

  • Provide clear and daily communication with Program Manager and other team members to ensure holistic, consistent supports and services are in place

  • Ensure case management supports focus on safety, health, recovery, and stability and individualized goals

  • Provide one-on-one and group supports

  • Complete progress/case notes and maintain participant records.

  • Provide crisis intervention services during regular work hours as needed.

  • Along with Program Manager, research, and implement program improvement and expansion and identify trends in population or service interventions

  • Create and maintain a community and culture that is warm, welcoming and supportive of all youth 24-7

  • Provide support services around family reunification, when possible

  • Participate in committees as appointed internally and in the community

  • Participate in a monthly on-call rotation for the shelter.

  • Provide assistance with shelter shift coverage in situations where the shelter is short staffed as available and coordinated with the Program Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Desire to continuously learn for personal and professional growth

  • Knowledge of the commercial sexual exploitation of minors

  • Creative and able to engage a diverse range of needs and learning styles

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for client advocacy

  • Ability to work independently

  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize, coordinate, track and complete multiple tasks as well as adjust to changing priorities

  • Computer application proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

  • Schedule is based on meeting the needs of program and will require some evening hours

Qualifications:

  • BA degree in related field and 2 years of experience or 2 years of working with high-risk and vulnerable youth

  • Experience providing comprehensive and holistic case management services to young people

  • Training in youth development, harm reduction, and/or trauma informed care

  • Knowledge of issues related to minor sex trafficking, comprehensive programming, child welfare, juvenile justice and court systems

  • Proven experience providing 1:1 and group supports and/or programming within a shelter or other youth setting

  • Current driver’s license, reliable vehicle (with current insurance at the levels required by the Link) and ability to pass a criminal and driving background check

Working Conditions:

  • The employee is regularly required to talk or hear

  • The employee is frequently required to use manual dexterity for use of objects, tools or controls as well as visual acuity

  • The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

  • The employee must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

  • The employee is required to drive a personal vehicle

  • Work environment for this position includes offices, common, residential homes and community spaces with a low to moderate noise level


Compensation: This position is a full-time, 40 hour/week position. Compensation is $22.08/hour (non-exempt) plus benefits, which currently include health insurance, dental insurance, vision plan, 401k with employer match, flex plan, short and long-term disability, life insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, birthday PTO and volunteer PTO.
