What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher position at The Little Academy?
INSPIRE A CHILD—FEEL THE JOY!
If you are looking for a career where you can make a lasting and meaningful impact in the life of a child while working in a supportive and resource-rich environment that encourages you to do your best work, you have found it at The Little Academy!
Take advantage of this rare opportunity while we are expanding our center and hiring teachers ahead of opening the addition. It is our goal to have 6 new staff members completely trained and knowledgeable of our policies and procedures before opening the addition. We are proud that many of our staff members have been with our center for years, and we look forward to hiring new members that will be on our team for years to come. We can’t wait to meet you and add you to our team!
THE LITTLE ACADEMY CULTURE
We realize our biggest asset is our teachers and know how important it is for us to be active mentors in each of our employee’s career journeys at our center. At The Little Academy we are intentional about creating a safe and nurturing environment for our children and our teachers. We currently have 7 classrooms and a team of 18 teachers educating and caring for 100 children from the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years. We value a respectful environment, embrace the diversity of our team, and love to have fun!
Our team is extremely supportive of new teachers, and we ensure new teachers are welcomed and prepared. We take training seriously because we want you to succeed at the center as a new team member. To achieve this, each new teacher will go through our 90-day onboarding process which includes learning our policies and procedures, licensing requirements, and has a mentor/curriculum coordinator to work with throughout the training process. Each new team member is given a Team Member Orientation Workbook with training modules and daily questions that they will be guided through by their mentor/curriculum coordinator. The Team Member Orientation Workbook ensures new employees are comfortable in their environment, that they learn The Little Academy processes, and helps build new relationships with colleagues! During this time, there will be online and in classroom training, along with CPR and First Aid classes. Your mentor/curriculum coordinator will be by your side to help you adjust to your room and support you as you become an important member of our team! Imagine having 90 days of training where you meet at least weekly with your mentor/curriculum coordinator to help you with any questions/concerns you may have.
We truly believe in work/life balance—these are not just words to us. The Little Academy is open Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and your hours will be between those hours. Otherwise, your time is your own, we do not expect anyone to work after hours other than for occasional training.
TEACHER RESOURCES
We are committed to providing our teachers with the necessary resources to help them develop creative curriculums. Teaching is a talented profession, so we want you to have room to let your skills shine, and for you to grow in your career. You will have access to arts, crafts, and toys in your classroom. You have an hour each day during nap for planning, have access to a mentor/curriculum coordinator for those crazy, messy activities, and to feel supported if you ever have questions or feel overwhelmed. As leaders in early education, we know how hard you work and want to provide you with the right environment. You will be fully valued and be able to work to the fullest capacity of your talents!
Our team members are encouraged to continue their education in Early Child Development by having access to college scholarship programs that pay to get your degree in early education for FREE! We also provide professional membership to Child Care Association of Louisiana to all our team members for free!
Our teachers are also eligible for School Readiness Tax Credits if leveled at Early Learning Center Teacher I or higher by Louisiana Pathways Career Development System and work in an eligible Type III Center for at least 6 months of a year for an average of at least 30 hours per week. These credits range from $1809 to $3617 per year!!! Imagine getting that tax return each year!
The Little Academy abides by all State laws and takes pride in being known for that. You will find our team is fair and ensures a good work/life balance, not just for longer-term employees, but for everyone! If this sounds like an environment you would like to be part of, we look forward to hearing from you!
INTANGIBLE, BUT REAL, REWARDS
We have seen moms and dads struggle to work outside the home, find affordable childcare, and balance the needs of their families. In a very real way, there is an emotional reward that comes from knowing that as an early childhood teacher at our center, you are supporting these working moms and dads by providing the best experience for their little ones in your care. Come join us in this important work!
