Purpose:
The Los Angeles Film School is looking for a creative and dynamic individual with a background in graphic design to teach typography and layout courses and at least one other related course in the Graphic Design program. The ideal candidate would be able to teach across various related subjects such as photography, illustration, and advertising.
Online Instructors are industry professionals, developing and teaching a curriculum that integrates technical knowledge with artistic exploration and creativity to provide an immersive learning experience for students. Our online learning environment utilizes interactive and web-based media with a variety of video content, project work and assignments, discussion boards, quizzes, instructor-led live sessions, and significant one-on-one student interaction. Online faculty are expected to provide supportive coaching and mentoring to students, helping students learn and grow throughout the program. Currently, the position is fully remote, but could eventually require a few days in the office per month. Commutable distance from Winter Park, Florida required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Course Development:

Develop engaging and comprehensive course materials, syllabi, and learning resources for typography, design, and layout courses.

Create lesson plans, assignments, projects, and assessments that align with course objectives and industry standards.
Perform all Online Faculty responsibilities with a high degree of quality and professionalism

Deliver interactive and high-quality online lectures, demonstrations, and discussions that facilitate student understanding of design concepts, typography techniques, and layout principles.

Foster a collaborative and engaging online learning environment, encouraging student participation and interaction.
Provide expertise in assigned content area and maintain current knowledge in the related field

Stay current with industry trends, design technologies, and emerging practices to continuously enhance the curriculum and incorporate real-world examples.
Develop and/or revise curriculum according to course design standards

Collaborate with colleagues to refine and update course content based on student feedback and evolving design industry needs.
Must be able to work as part of a team and must value collaboration

Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and program assessment activities as required.

Provide excellent and timely student support

Education and/or Experience:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in graphic design, visual communication, or related field

REQUIRED: Must have 4 years of verifiable work experience in the graphic design industry

Expert in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Suite

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex design concepts clearly and effectively

Demonstrate teaching and organization skills; able to communicate effectively both in verbal and written expression

Demonstrated English communication abilities, both verbal and written

Demonstrated physical, visual, and auditory capacity to work on a computer and communicate effectively with students via telephone and computer
