WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
While working under the direction of the Bindery Manager, the Experienced Bindery Worker has overall responsibility for performing all tasks and elements of work in the operation functions of the Bindery Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
- Reads work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions.
- Examines stitched, collated, bound, and unbound product samples for defects such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn or loose pages, and loose and uncut threads.
- Starts machines and make trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setups.
- Sets up, or sets up and operates drills, round corner machines, scoring/perforating machines, collators, high speed copy machines, color copiers, hand stitchers, stack counting machines, GBC Binding Systems, shrink wrap machines, padding machines and hand padding.
- Moves controls to adjust and activate bindery machines.
- Observes and monitors machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.
- Makes running adjustments on folder, stitcher trimmers and mailing equipment.
- Installs and adjusts bindery machine devices, such as knives, guides, rollers, rounding forms, creasing rams, and clamps, to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified sizes, using hand tools.
- Maintains records of daily production, using specified forms.
- Fills machine paper feeds.
- Lubricates and cleans machine parts and makes minor repairs to keep machines in working condition.
- Feeds books and related articles such as periodicals and pamphlets into binding machines, following specifications.
- Removes printed material or finished products from machines or conveyors, wrap products in plastic, and stack them on pallets or skids or pack them in boxes.
- Performs all shipping functions including wrapping and pick and pack functions.
- Produces all paperwork for UPS, RPS, Federal Express and other types of shipping.
- Cleans work areas, and maintain equipment and workstations, using hand tools.
- Stocks supplies such as signatures, books, or paper.
- Punches holes in paper sheets, and fasten sheets, signatures, or other material, using hand or machine punches or staplers.
- Performs duties of General Bindery Worker as needed.
- Follows and complies with safety policies and procedures.
- Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a high school diploma and/or one to three years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
