What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at The Melville Jewish Center?
- Duties:
Employee will perform all of the duties and responsibility of a general, “full charge” bookkeeper of a Conservative Jewish Synagogue, including but not limited to:
- Processing of all member and other normal course of business payments into QuickBooks.
- Processing of all invoices and other payments
- Maintaining and updating of our general ledger
- Making/recording all payroll journal entries
- Running payroll and interfacing with our payroll vendor
- Making deposits at the bank when necessary
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial transactions
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in using accounting software and tools
- Experience with financial report writing and analysis
- Ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
