As a Director of Development at Vanguard Preparatory/The Menta Group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective practices that advance the school community. As a member of the leadership team, the Director reports to the Head of School, and through collaboration with the leadershipteam, directly oversees the following:Fundraising, including Annual Fund and Capital CampaignsAlumni and Parent RelationsCorporate partnershipsDatabase ManagementVolunteer CoordinationSpecial Event Management
\n- Create a comprehensive school advancement plan with clearly defined objectives, timelines, and division of responsibilities
- Actively lead the advancement team toward effective execution of the following areas: grant writing, corporate sponsorships, alumni relations, parent relations,fundraising, special event planning, database management and volunteer management
- Develop strategic plans for each fundraising initiative, including annual fund and capital campaigns
- Effectively collaborate with the leadership team and key departments, to ensure the development and growth of the school’s programs and regenerative sustainability
- Ensure the effective deployment of the Head of School, key members of the leadership team and/or key volunteers in advancement initiatives
- Promote professional development among members of the advancement team
- Work with the Head of School and Chief Financial Officer in the formulation of an annual school advancement budget and monitor budget throughout the year
- Effectively collaborate with the Communications/Marketing personnel on institutional branding and messaging materials
- Serve with the Head of School as key spokespersons and advocate for the school, on campus, and in the community
- Collaborate with the Head of School, leadership team, advancement team and volunteers to plan and implement strategies to increase donor and volunteer engagement
- Serve as an active participant on the Head of School’s leadership team
- Consistently aligns business objectives with the school’s mission, vision and values
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- 3 years’ experience in progressively responsible, non-profit Development leadership positions required, preferably within the DFW Metroplex
- Master’s degree and CFRE certification preferred
- Possess the ability to network and develop meaningful connections within the community in order to support fundraising efforts
- Professional leadership experience with a successful record of communications, fundraising, and donor and volunteer engagement
- Experience securing large-scale gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations
- Demonstrated experience executing annual fundraising plans
- Ability to apply current trends in Development, prospect discovery, fundraising, alumni relations, and strategic marketing
- Ability to influence a wide range of donors and key stakeholders
- Ability to build long term relationships, adapting to a variety of donor situations and expectations
- Exceptional project management skills; goal driven; detail-oriented; and the ability to set and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
