Aftercare Teacher

Please apply if you can commute daily to Corte Madera, California, and if you have 12 early childhood education units, thank you.

At the Mountain School, the aftercare teacher works with the faculty to create a comforting environment for the children. In addition, aftercare teachers assist on the playground, nurture young children during naptime, prepare snacks, and help on campus as needed.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 11 am to 4:30

Responsibilities:

• Assist the other teachers with preparing the environment and activities provided for the children.
• Provide physical care and emotional support as needed by individual children
• Assist in classroom management and activities using positive discipline techniques.
• Help to ensure safety in the classroom and the play yard.
• Accompanied the children to the bathroom when needed.
• Help with safe arrival, dismissal, and pick up of children as directed.
• Help with the purchase and preparation of snacks and supplies.
• Help with day-to-day cleaning at the end of the day.
• Help with maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Communicate with the lead teachers concerning classroom observations and parent involvement.
• Attend and participate in preschool events, including but not limited to parent evenings, festivals, open houses, workshops, etc.
• Attend workshops and professional development training
• Attend faculty meetings (once a week)
• Available two weeks before the school year begins for meetings & preparation
• Available to substitute for the lead teacher when needed
• Available to lead or assist in some weeks of our summer camp program

Minimum Qualifications for the Teacher

1. Preferred 12 ECE or 6 ECE units and working towards 12 units.

2. Preference is given to Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training graduates. Please get in touch with us if you are planning or are open to joining Waldorf Teacher Training.

Compensation: $35.00 per hour
