Overview:
The Gift Planning Support Specialist shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

This position will serve in a professional fundraising environment with emphasis on Gift Planning donor qualification and cultivation and other administrative tasks. The Gift Planning Support Specialist will strive to enhance Gift Planning donor relationships within a complex portfolio of highly valuable donors and constituents of Navigator ministry, thereby actively advancing growth for the Gift Planning program.
Responsibilities:
Donor Relationships and Estate Settlement 50%
  • Assists with the communication and stewardship plan for the Trotman Fellowship to enhance donor relationships (using personal cards, newsletters, and fulfillment materials).
  • Initiates phone calls to all Gift Planning donors within the MarketSmart platform, seeking new planned gifts or Gift Planning prospects and return MarketSmart donor phone calls or e-mails and complete follow-up actions as necessary.
  • Participates in focused campaign calls (cultivating relationships and praying with donors).
  • Responds to all incoming calls on the Gift Planning phone number and organizational e-mail box and provides direction to Gift Planning donors utilizing the Nav Legacy website and basic planning information.
  • Executes GP team’s processes upon notification of donor’s estates being settled; collaborates with estates’ personal reps, executors, attorneys, and trust officers, as applicable, to ensure timely closure; tracks and reports progress of estate settlements.

Administrative Responsibilities 30%
  • Reviews Charitable Gift Annuity proposals for accuracy and correct information, and coordinates with Barnabas Foundation for distribution to donors.
  • Manages the Planned Giving electronic databases and hard-copy file systems.
  • Grows and achieves competency regarding Gift Planning strategies, ethics, organizational practices, industry tools and resources through coaching/mentoring, conferences/webinars, and other resources.
  • Facilitates receipt of Gift Planning gifts and processes through Donor Care or Agilis for deposit into the proper cost center.

Budgeting and Marketing 20%
  • Assists with team financial affairs and basic legacy gift settlement in cooperation with the Gift Planning Team, including filing expense reports and paying supplier invoices.
  • Assists with the implementation of the Gift Planning marketing and communication program in coordination with current Development marketing channels: direct mail, digital (websites, social media, and e-mail), donor visits, and telephone.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.


Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in development events such as Navigator on-site events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
  • Read spiritually and culturally developmental books and literature.
  • Participate in the annual, organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR) process.
  • Submits hours worked on a weekly basis in The Navigators’ Time Tracking System, Workday
Qualifications:
  • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
  • Minimum education – four-year college degree.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation and liaison skills (in-person and on the phone).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to represent The Navigators in a positive and professional manner during both internal and external interactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other database and web-based fundraising tools.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify gift planning prospects.
  • Ability to work well independently while maintaining strong communication with coworkers and team members.
  • High level of integrity in dealing with confidential information.
  • Capacity to deal comfortably and sensitively with high-level donors.
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships with others and a capacity for engaging trust among colleagues and donors.
  • Past personal experience with The Navigator ministry is a plus.
Compensation Range: $39,000 to $49,000/year
