Group Summary:

The HR Communications team supports employee engagement at the League through communication that helps employees understand and reinforce our employee value proposition. The team executes internal marketing campaigns and communication that support a positive culture and employee experience.


Job Summary and Essential Functions:

The HR Communications Manager will provide support of a range of HR communications programs and services in collaboration with the Chief People Officer and the extended HR team. This includes creating original content for employees on relevant topics related to the employee experience at the NBA.


The work of this role is performed primarily in-person as it relates to engagement with internal and external stakeholders. This role travels between 0-15% of the year, depending upon priorities.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide support of a range of HR communications programs and services in collaboration with the Chief People Officer and the extended HR team. This includes creating original content for employees on relevant topics related to the employee experience at the NBA.
  • Proactively seeks to understand the company’s HR strategy and priorities to propose and develop communication plans and strategies.
  • Create content that helps to build employee affinity to the NBA.
  • Update content on NBA websites related to HR or employment with the NBA that drives engagement, interest and ease of use.
  • Ensure all HR communication is consistent and aligned with the league’s corporate brand identity, strategic direction, business philosophies and general practices.
  • Develops and executes employee-facing strategies and tactics to communicate people programs, including the behavior and emotional component of messaging and approach
  • Writes and distributes/posts HR communication including company newsletters and content for multiple intranet portals


Required Education/Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, public relations or other communication-related major
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in corporate communications, HR communimcations or Employee Engagement


Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes

  • Strong project management skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy, and multitasking. Exceptional ability to capture ideas into high level content that is both informative and visually appealing for internal and external audiences.
  • Expertise in understanding, reviewing and converting content across multiple platforms and delivery modes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Expertise in social media, content and engagement.
  • Expertise with content management systems.


Salary Range:
$78,000 - $95,000
