The New School is seeking a Temporary Counselor(s) to provide counseling and support services to both graduate and undergraduate degree seeking students up to 35 hours a week for 10-12 weeks starting in March 2022. We are seeking candidates who are highly skilled clinicians who have experience working with students with diverse identities. This position(s) will report directly to the Director of Counseling and will receive weekly clinical supervision..

This position is part of the Student Health Employees at the New School (SHENS-UAW) Union. The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargain agreement between the New School and SHENS-UAW

Primary responsibilities include the following:
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and short-term individual therapy to university students including mental health assessments, information and referrals
- Work with students in crisis and those with trauma histories, including racialized and other trauma related to identity.
- Available for collateral contacts including hospitals, community providers, faculty and staff, as appropriate
- Collaborate and maintain open communication with interdisciplinary staff of Student Health Services including psychiatry and medical providers
- Maintain timely, appropriate and accurate records and correspondence related to students served
Hourly Rate: $25
