The New York Foundling’s School Based Mental Health Program (SBMH) partners with schools around NYC to increase accessibility of mental health services to families by bringing high quality, evidence-based mental health treatment inside schools where any child enrolled in public schools can reach them. We also aim to build school’s capacity to meet the social and emotional needs of their students by empowering schools to think and operate proactively and relationally through ongoing collaboration, school faculty consultations, and delivery workshops to the school community.
Responsibilities
SBMH services sit under NY Foundling’s Specialized Clinical and Psychiatric Services (SCPS) department. SCPS is looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) to oversee SBMH. Under the supervision of the Vice President (VP), the AVP:
- Oversees all clinical, administrative, and managerial aspects of assigned program(s). Ensures ongoing programmatic excellence, quality management, infrastructure to support and advance the services needed to meet families’ and programs' needs
- Directly supervises SBMH clinical supervisors and participates in performance evaluation process.
- Manage fiscal operations, and ensures fiscal viability.
- Manages contracting/subcontracting process with support from VP.
- Maintains communication and has supervision with the Vice President regarding all program operations (client/staff concern, staffing, assessments, needs, interventions, and deliverables).
- Develops collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and maintains positive and open communication.
- Assures that service delivery meets the guidelines and regulations (ie OMH, ACS) identified by funding sources and appropriate documentation and reporting of services in NY Foundling database and external databases as required.
- Ensures Key Performance Indicators and contract deliverables are being met through conducting Continuous Quality Improvement meetings with supervisors.
- Fosters a data-driven culture and implements change utilizing the trends found in the data collected.
- Ensures necessary administrative maintenance for successful program implementation including referral management, census, staffing maintenance, incident reporting through MyEvolv.
- Assures availability of clinical and administrative support to staff 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
- Serve as a member of the AVP on-call rotation.
- Supports the integration of services and regulations, including those of OMH. Is responsible for client diagnosis, signing off on treatment plans.
- Ensures all families served by the program can access community resources and services they are eligible for (examples: Care Management and Primary Care).
- Participates in development of policies and procedures in coordination with senior management team to accomplish program goals
- Ability to work as part of a management team helping to develop strategy and direction for the agency.
- Responsible for hiring decisions, monitoring training and development needs, and coordinating with HR on staff related concerns.
- Maintains understanding of Foundling’s policy, compliance, and resources. Remains informed on the latest internal and external policy (ie OMH, ACS, Justice Center) and regulations related to program functions and diverse services sectors program interacts with.
- Ensures staff engagement, integration, and program updates and support.
- Provides access to licensure clinical supervision to eligible staff and runs Licensure Group Supervision for clinical staff.
- Able to balance various tasks simultaneously and deliver outstanding results to facilitate smooth functioning of the organizational activities.

Qualifications
Required Educational Level, Licenses, and Experience:
- Masters of Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling degree, or the equivalent in a related field
- License Required (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT; and other approved NYS Clinical License)
- Must maintain an active License
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience and oversight program(s) and implementation.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
- Supervisory and/or managerial experience in a program of similar type or size, including direct work experience.
- Must be organized and creative
- Must be an energetic, confident, and positive individual who can easily build rapport with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to set appropriate boundaries, be direct, and tactful in navigating challenging conversations with stakeholders/staff
- Responsive, dependable, and accountable
- Experience with program evaluation, data entry and analysis, and report production.
- Familiar with service integration and referrals
- Advanced understanding of evidence based preventive services
- Knowledge of evidence-based models and continuous quality improvement process.
- Excellent critical thinking, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders and manage multiple deadlines and projects as necessary.

- Some experience and comfort with speaking to large audiences
Salary Range - 107,100-$110,600/year
