Position Overview
The Ohio State University's Office of Advancement seeks a Analytics and Performance Manager to take the lead in transforming data into actionable key insights that will positively impact our digital properties and optimize digital marketing spend.
The Analytics and Performance Manager will partner with our Advancement Communications & Marketing team to define and understand critical KPIs and support existing digital channels and new digital strategic initiatives by providing in-depth analyses and reporting that will allow the team to iteratively improve the overall customer experience and drive channel profitability. This person is responsible for collecting, analyzing, reporting, and recommending new strategies, tactics and customer segments across all of Advancement's digital channels. Activities will also include creating marketing dashboards for key stakeholders, aggregating data from multiple sources, and developing campaign wrap-ups and recommendations.
They will perform quality assurance on site and campaign tagging and tracking to ensure clean data collection and generate user-friendly reports with clear commentary and analysis. In addition, the role will be responsible for reviewing and testing features and integrations with other tools and supporting a culture of data-driven insights.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital analytics, audience segmentation, and measurement. This person will need to possess analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for quickly developing recommendations based on the quantitative and qualitative evidence gathered via web and mobile analytics, financial data, and user behavior.
Beyond generating dashboards and reports (although those are important), we're looking for someone that can quickly get to the "so what?" and make actionable recommendations on how to make things better. This person will be responsible for identifying A/B and multivariate tests, recommending improvements to site performance based on user data, digging deep into campaign performance, and generating audience insights.

Duties and Responsibilities

Works with business partners to guide digital marketing strategy through measuring incrementality and impact of new initiatives/strategies/promotions.

Uses analytics to make actionable recommendations to optimize performance of Advancement's digital properties, including website, email, text, and social media. Analyze the data and trends to improve SEO and inform content strategies.

Leads cross-channel measurement and attribution methodologies and oversees infrastructure development to ensure campaign results are measurable and actionable.

Provides strategic recommendations and support to business, marketing, IT, and UX initiatives that involve testing; provide business case support for web/mobile app projects related to digital analytics.

Drives excellent practices and technical standards for establishing KPIs across digital channels, and marketing campaign tracking and measurement.

Works with internal stakeholders to establish KPIs and related metrics for new products, site enhancements and site redesigns.

Designs digital a/b testing; including data mining for testing ideas; creating measurement plan; audience selection; segmentation and evaluation to improve customer experience & support business objectives.

Conducts ad hoc analyses that will advise channel owners on how to maximize channel profitability and optimize promotional strategies.

Partners with Advancement Marketing and Communication team to ensure the right tracking is in place to measure success of initiatives and manage digital data governance.

Performs quality assurance on tagging and tracking to ensure clean data collection.

Generates reports and dashboards for business partners that result in a better understanding of Advancement's audiences and provide insight into trends to help strategic planning.

Presents to all levels of staff to help inform colleagues about the value of analytics, new data and analysis, results of testing, and best practices.

Assists with the implementation of analytics platforms (Adobe, Google Analytics) on new digital properties.

Partners closely with teams across Advancement to solve impactful business problems and translates them into structured analyses, actionable insights, and (in some cases) data products.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Four (4) years of relevant experience.

Bachelor's degree in social science, marketing, business administration or related field of study.

Master's degree in social science, marketing, marketing research, business administration or related field of study.

Understanding of digital marketing best practices including developing and optimizing measurement frameworks for content marketing campaigns, cross-channel advertising efforts, email marketing campaigns, as well as SEO requirements.

Expertise in working with measurement tools and methodologies across online/offline channels, including multi-touch attribution, media mix modeling, incrementality testing, matched market testing, A/B testing, and brand lift studies.

Hands on experience with web analytics software (preferably Google Analytics and BiqQuery), tag management (Google Tag Manager) SEO/SEM, CRM software (Salesforce Marketing Cloud or equivalent).

Proven experience in reporting and using visual data analytics tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or Google Data Studio

Experience with test design and execution.

Strong technical aptitude with the ability to analyze data, interpret information and trends in large amounts of data to develop actionable recommendations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to tell coherent and compelling narratives around complicated quantitative concepts that can be easily understood by non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to drive projects to conclusion and work effectively with a variety of cross functional partners from various levels within the company.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript a plus.
