The Wexner Center for the Arts, within the Office of Academic Affairs seeks a Community, Academic, and Public Programs Coordinator. This position will be engaged in a range of Wexner Center public programs including talks, panels, and workshops. The Coordinator will also assist in the development, coordination, and facilitation of engagement initiatives in the Wexner Center’s Learning & Public Practice department, with a particular focus on programming for a variety of interests, audiences, and communities (youths and adults, university faculty and students, and a diverse general public).

The Coordinator will report to the Community, Public, and Academic Programs Manager, and serve on several inter-departmental working groups with colleagues across the institution. In consultation with the Community, Public, and Academic Programs Manager, this position is responsible for supporting existing programs, research, and evaluation, and developing new programming where opportunities exist. Specific programmatic responsibilities may shift depending upon annual priorities set by the Community, Public and Academic Programs Manager and in collaboration with the Head of Learning & Public Practice and other staff members. Occasional evenings and weekends required.

Public Programs (40%)

Works closely with the Community, Public, and Academic Programs Manager and Head of Learning & Public Practice, assisting in organizing and facilitating public programs; then in consultation with the Community, Public, and Academic Programs Manager assists in the implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of those programs, including endowed lectures, gallery talks, artist talks, panels, workshops, convenings, and other public events.

University Collaborations (25%)

Collaborates with University colleagues, faculty, and students to develop, implement, facilitate co-sponsored public programs across a spectrum of University departments and academic units. Ensures collaborations and co-sponsorships are equitable, reciprocal, and align with the Wexner Center’s strategic goals and mission. In consultation with the Community, Public, and Academic Programs Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for assisting in developing and deepening relationships and collaborations with faculty and students across the University, including high-touch outreach and engagement work that amplifies Wexner Center programming, artist residencies, and other initiatives and events available to the campus community; intersecting with coursework and adding to the social, creative, and cultural fabric of campus life. These efforts will assist in cultivating and maintaining a cohesive partnership with members of the University community and facilitate ongoing awareness and exchange of resources and program offerings.

Outreach and Engagement (25%)

The Coordinator will assist in program growth, diversity, and inclusion, and strengthening infrastructure for the Wexner Center’s student initiatives. The Coordinator will assist in increasing awareness of opportunities for students and deepen student engagement with Wexner Center programming. This position is responsible for ongoing outreach and engagement that supports opportunities for university students to engage with the Wexner Center in meaningful and ongoing ways.

Special Projects (10%)

Specific programmatic responsibilities will shift depending upon annual priorities set by the Head of Learning & Public Practice in collaboration with other staff members. Additional miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned by the Head of Learning & Public Practice.

Qualifications

Degree in or experience supplemented by study in Education, Art Education, Art History, Museum Studies, or related field appropriate to the position. Alternative or equivalent of education and experience will also be considered. Strong organizational, teaching, communication, and customer service skills required. Strong research and writing skills required. Desire and ability to work collaboratively. Desire and ability to work collaboratively. Proven experience in working with the public. Professional experience in a museum, nonprofit, learning setting, or similar environment required. Candidate must be able to demonstrate a commitment to and proficiency in diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products strongly preferred, including Excel; excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented and accurate; ability to foresee, evaluate, and respond effectively to complex circumstances and conditions; a willingness to troubleshoot and problem solve; strong initiative and organizational skills; a demonstrated customer service mindset and collaborative style of work; proven ability to manage multiple time-critical priorities and projects with minimal supervision.
