The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking a Financial Operations Specialist 2 to join our Finance team. The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The college has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
The Financial Operations Specialist 2 reviews financial transactions; oversees the general ledger, prepares financial reports, and performs financial analysis; participates in month- and year-end close activities, coordinates invoicing for both internal and external contracts or agreements; supports the college in budget preparation, forecasting, identifying and implementing strategic initiatives; coordinates asset management activities for the college; serves as a subject matter expert and initial point of contact for issues including but not limited to compliance and interpretation of financial policies and procedures with college community; provides guidance and training related to financial operations for the college, participates in the development and implementation of training resources, provides coverage when needed for other finance team members.
7:30 am - 4:30 pm with potential for Hybrid Schedule with 3 days on-site and up to 2 days remote
Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this position is subject to indoor environmental conditions. This position requires sustained periods using a keyboard and performing other computer work as well as reviewing documents both in hard copy and electronic formats. Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
Required: Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or an equivalent combination of education/experience; knowledge of accounting principles and applications; 2 years of progressively responsible financial and administrative experience.
Desired: Knowledge of university policies and procedures; proficiency in the university's financial systems (i.e. Workday, Tableau, RAE, Surplus, PI Portal, etc.) strongly preferred; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel using pivot tables and advanced formulas; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated customer service mindset and collaborative style of work; proven ability to manage multiple time-critical priorities and projects with minimal supervision.

Additional Information:
By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire.
