Job Title: Grants & Contracts Specialist Department: Engineering | Computer Science and Engineering The Network Based Computing Lab (NOWLAB), led by Dr. Dhabaleswar Panda in the Computer Science and Engineering Department, is world leader in research on high-performance and scalable communication in parallel and high-end computing systems. NOWLAB collaborates with national and international partners (universities, research labs, and industry) on state of the art research and major software releases. This position will manage administrative and logistical functions of the lab; including onboarding, travel and procurement; manage grant applications and proposals submitted by group including large collaborative proposals and subcontracts; develops budgets; monitors and notifies principal investigators of funding opportunities; responsible for writing non-technical portions of grant applications, including broader impacts, educational activities, team qualifications, facilities, budget justification, resource sharing plans, etc.; collaborates with PI to forecast and develop strategic planning in support of research sponsorship; manages and administers sponsored research for all post-award grant activity; oversees program planning and development, and project administration; actively participates with the preparation and submission of research progress reports; interprets and ensures compliance with sponsor, university and third-party regulations; responsible for planning, directing and marketing of NOWLAB programs including MVAPICH User Group (MUG) meeting, conference coordination and ongoing communications. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in business administration or finance Qualifications Required: 2-4 years of experience in proposal and post-award grants and contracts management experience; grant writing experience; extensive experience with NSF, DOE, DOD required; 2-4 years of experience with purchases, travel, coordination activities; Desired: Knowledge of University, Office of Research and Office of Sponsored Programs policies, rules, and regulations; experience managing and marketing academic conferences Additional Information: Career Roadmapping FUNCTION: Research Administration SUB-FUNCTION: Grants and Contracts Management CAREER BAND: Individual Contributor - Specialized CAREER LEVEL S2 Location: Dreese Laboratories (0279) Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
