Job Title: Licensing Associate Department: ERIK | Technology Commercialization The Licensing Associate is responsible for supporting licensing officers or senior licensing officers with identifying technologies for commercial applications, evaluating the commercial potential of technologies, identifying potential licensees, preparing non-confidential technical information for marketing purposes, developing and implementing specific marketing strategies for each technology, and drafting and negotiating small to mid-sized license and option agreements. The Licensing Associate receives significant coaching and oversight to help them advance their knowledge and experiences in preparation for becoming a licensing officer. The ideal candidate will be a visionary and inspiring team member who is committed to fostering an inclusive, innovative, and high performing culture with a varied group of people representing diverse ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds. Has the ability to work in a complex organization and further the goals and objectives of technology commercialization at The Ohio State University. Is process and metrics oriented and is committed to continuous improvement. Embraces data-driven decision-making. Acts with urgency in all stakeholder interactions. Is self-motivated, an effective verbal and written communicator, has executive presence and demonstrates high emotional intelligence. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 2 year’s experience in translational research, innovation, or commercialization. Preliminary knowledge proficiency in licensing and intellectual property principles. Examples include preliminary licensing terms, targeted fundamentals of intellectual property, basic understanding of marketing methods, and intermediate negotiation knowledge.
