What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Admissions Director position at The Orchards of Michigan?
The Admissions Director is responsible to ensure budget census goals are achieved. The Admission Director externally markets the facility to referral sources and oversees the admission process from referral, tour conversion, admission, contract completion through early admission satisfaction. The Admission Director is responsible to create and implement the marketing plan and is accountable to the Administrator.
Qualifications
· Bachelor Degree in Marketing or related field preferred
· Three years as a successful Admission Director or Healthcare Marketing Director required.
· Ability to travel at least 50% of working hours.
· Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to healthcare marketing required.
· Positive attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions, (word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.).
· Strong organizational and analytical skills; oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability in independent functioning and strong leadership.
Oversees facility marketing efforts to assure census and case mix goals are achievied.
· Develops, coordinates and nurtures relationships with potential referral sources including hospital, post acute, community, physician, insurance company and other resources through external marketing efforts.
· Coordinates and participates in external marketing activities with corporate staff to develop facility specialities, embed assigned facility in the community, and create relationships with managed care and discharge planners to become a resource and post acute provider of choice.
· Reviews potential admissions and identifies financial or clinical needs of residents to identify costs, acuity needs and facility capabilities to successfully care for the resident.
· Streamlines the admission process to minimize roadblocks to admissions.
· Provide centralized weekend referral management and admissions for all locations.
· Maintain a thorough understanding of each location’s Clinical Skills Inventory, accepted payers, products and services and staff physician relations.
· Provide admissions coverage during the week to cover illnesses, PTO and vacancies as directed by the Director of Marketing and Census Development.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Accesses and responds to referrals with a goal of 30 minute response times to referral sources.
· Evaluates and confirms financial status of residents to assure a viable payer source is available to support admitting the resident. Works closely with Administrator and Corporate billing to substantiate decision making.
· Ensures contracts are signed prior to or at the time of admission.
· Oversees initial insurance aurthorizations are obtained and documented in the resident record timely.
· Develops strategies to maximize admissions of patients requiring a sub acute level of care including daily contact with potential referral sources including hospitals, physicians, insurers, case management companies and health care agencies.
· Conducts admission screening of potential patients; determines and communicates level of care, services required, equipment needs and insurance coverage, as indicated.
· Authorizes acceptance of patients and coordinate admissions with appropriate staff.
· Markets services to the managed care industry. Participates in contract closings and price negotiations with insurance companies, as assigned.
· Workw with and coordinates local community events and agencies to generate a positive image and encourage word-of-mouth referral activities.
· Maintains knowledge of current regulations governing Medicare/Medicaid and private insurance company reimbursement.
· Accesses continuing education opportunities appropriate to discipline and responsibilities.
· Ensures timely delivery of census report to corporate office and essential services.
· Adheres to all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations related to admissions referrals and marketing activities.
· Attends and participates in departmental/facility meetings, as required.
· Accesses continuing education opportunities appropriate to responsibilities.
· Promotes optimal communication among program staff members, facility staff, referrals sources, physicians and patients.
· Establishes and maintains exemplary standards for department appearance and staff presentment; ensures compliance with company and facility policies and procedures.

· Participates in direct and indirect patient care activities as warranted.
· Participates in quality improvement activities, which reduce cost and increase efficiency through improved systems and processes.
