What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workers Compensation Coordinator position at The Orthopaedic Center?
Looking for an experience Workers comp personnel. Candidates will be expected to work with adjusters, case managers, and providers. As a work comp personnel, you will be expected to receive authorizations from work comp carriers and scheduling appointments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Review of legal documents related to workers’ compensation, intake of patient information, coordination of patient care with adjustors and/or nurse case managers, ensuring conformance to applicable laws and regulations while maintaining a high level of customer service.
2. Manage the accounts within the scope of the alphabet assigned.
3. Follow up with adjustors and/or nurse case managers regarding each patiet’s work status, dictation, and authorizations needed for procedures as requested by the medical providers.
4. Answer phone messages, emails, and tasks in a timely manner and provide documentation.
5. Work with physicians, attorneys, employees and management staff.
6. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints; evaluate problems and take appropriate action to resolve issues/concerns.
7. Stay abreast of trends and innovations in the field of workers’ compensation and keep current on legislative and regulatory issues at the state and federal level.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
· Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and safety regulations including the State Labor Code, Workers’ Compensation and Americans with Disabilities Act laws, OSHA, and employment laws, procedures, and regulations.
· Medical and technical terminology used in industrial injury cases.
· Modern office equipment including computers and software programs.
Ability to:
· Interpret, apply and explain federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and proceedings, and ensure compliance
· Operate computer equipment and utilize a variety of software programs
· Set goals and organize tasks
· Maintain accurate and complete records.
· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
