Job Summary (Seasonal, Full-Time Position)
Start Date: October 2nd End Date: January 26th
The Palm Springs International Film Society is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as Programming Coordinator. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the programming department and ensuring the successful execution of the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The Programming Coordinator will work closely with the Programming Manager and various other teams to ensure the smooth operation of the programming department.
Elements of the position include:
Pre-Festival:
Manage the collection, organization, and internal distribution of publicity materials (credits, film stills, trailers, clips, press kits, etc.) for selected films.
Assist with data entry and organization of the database (FileMaker Pro), ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
Respond to general phone calls and emails related to programming, providing timely and professional communication.
Request screeners from film handlers on behalf of the programming team and follow up with updates as necessary.
Assist in the coordination of the Filmmaker Retreats and collect/organize relevant materials (headshots, bios, film clips, dietary restrictions, etc.) from selected filmmakers.
Assist in handling correspondence and activities related to the various film festival jurors, including the collection of relevant materials (headshots/bios) and submitting invoices for payment.
Proofread the Souvenir Program Guide, Desert Sun Guide, and website for accuracy, ensuring the correct representation of films and related information.
During Festival:
Introduce films and moderate Q&A sessions during the festivals, engaging with audiences and filmmakers.
Act as the on-site coordinator during the Filmmaker Retreats at Sunnylands.
Post-Festival:
Assist with shipping award statues to filmmakers.
Write a comprehensive wrap report summarizing the programming activities and lessons learned during the festival.
Required Qualifications:
1 years of progressive related experience in fast paced environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and negotiating skills
Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize
Professional appearance and demeanor
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with FileMaker Pro
Previous experience dealing with confidential information
Knowledge of trending storylines in the film industry
Passion for film, especially international
