Job Title: Life Enrichment Director

Reports To: Executive Director

Location: The Palms at Ponte Vedra Assisted Living & Memory Care, 405 Solana Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082

Status: Non-exempt

SUMMARY

Plans and administers ongoing activities programs for the community. These include both group and individual social outings. Encourages resident participation in activities and procures the necessary equipment. Maintains the activity department budget.

COMPANY WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to meet the residents’ psycho-social needs and focus on something other than their situation ALLOWS AND ENCOURAGES RESIDENT TO DO AS MUCH OF THEIR OWN CARE AS POSSIBLE.
  • Assists in dining room while meals are being served. May assist in preparing meals following preplanned menus. Encourages residents to eat a proper diet and take adequate fluids while respecting the resident’s rights to free choice. Reports any changes in resident’s eating habits to the supervisor.
  • Participates in leisure activities provided for the residents as described in the activity calendar. Encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs and to develop friendships with other residents.
  • Maintains residents’ activity records daily in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedures .This includes documentation related to: leisure activities; incidents and observations; charting any changes in resident’s physical condition and/or behaviors visitors; etc. Observes the health and emotional condition of each resident and promptly reports all changes to the supervisors.
  • Assist residents with medications procedure when needed on outings or while manager on duty. Exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents.
  • Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to resident request for assistance –including emergency pull cords, telephone calls, and request from family and friends,
  • Develops and maintains a monthly activity calendar. This calendar will be posted for all to view.
  • Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
  • Records each resident’s participation of activities daily.
  • Assists Activities Director with care plans, relating to activities
  • Continually updates and improves the activities program
  • Complies with all mandated laws.
  • May be assigned as person in charge of community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Rotates Manager on Duty.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Possesses exceptional problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six months related experience preferred and/or training in direct service with older adults, or equivalent combination of education and experience. In accordance with state law, may need to possess current state certification and follow regulations to maintain license currency.

Knowledge of dementia particularly of the Alzheimer’s type is helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to residents, residents’ families, and other employees of the company. Ability to effectively communicate in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight and measure.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Uses good judgement in emergency situations, and gets help when needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and toxic caustic chemicals. The environment is characteristic of a facility in which healthcare is provided to the frail elderly. The noise level is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
