Assistant E-Commerce Department Manager

The Paper Store is the largest family owned and operated chain of specialty gift stores in New England. The Distribution Center (DC) provides a fun, fast paced, yet challenging work environment. Overview:

The Paper Store DC is looking for an E-Commerce Assistant Manager to assist in the day-to-day operation of a rapidly growing retail business. The perfect candidate is solution orientated, energetic, creative, and resourceful. This role is full-time, non-exempt, and reports to the E-Commerce Department Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the E-Commerce department with the E-Commerce Department Manager
  • Ensure the timely completion of all E-Commerce tasks. Most importantly, that all customer orders are shipped, accurately, as soon as possible, without damage.
  • Recommend and implement best practices to drive efficiencies within the E-Commerce department
  • Along with the department manager, lead a team of individuals, delegate tasks, and supervise all the functions that occur in the E-Commerce department. This person will cover for the department manager while taking time off.
  • Assist with personnel issues while utilizing Human Resources and upper management when necessary.
  • Monitor inventory daily. This includes consolidating locations, ensuring product is received correctly and put away in the appropriate area.
  • Communicate with the Corporate Office and Customer Service team as appropriate on all order issues.
  • Maintenance of product inventory to ensure accuracy for two physical inventories taken per year.
  • Multi-task and utilize WMS/EOM to troubleshoot and resolve inventory and order issues that may occur.
  • Communicate staffing needs, as well as, schedule and train all new employees and temporary labor for the E-commerce department. The Paper Store DC trains an influx of personnel during the holiday season, staffing ranges from 10 to 80+ people in the E-Commerce department depending on the time of year.
  • Engage in and/or run effective daily staff meetings with E-Commerce team
  • Willingness to assist in other departments within the warehouse depending on the company’s seasonal needs.
  • Encourage all staff to cross-train in other departments when time allows.
  • All other duties as required by management.

Job Requirements:

  • Have a positive attitude and be self-motivated
  • 3 years minimum experience supervising E-Commerce fulfillment operations
  • High school diploma or GED, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Strong leadership skills and great attention to detail
  • Coach, mentor, and hold all E-Commerce designated associates accountable to The Paper Store’s policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer and database application skills, such as Microsoft Office and Outlook Email
  • Familiarity with inventory and warehouse management systems
  • Flexible schedule around major holidays, including the months of November thru December, is required.
  • Ability to operate a manual and/or electric pallet jack or lift product.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, and push/pull 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours
