Instrument Flight instructors are responsible for teaching instrument students how to fly in a variety of settings using methods that include textbook education, simulators and live flight training.
Instrument Flight instructors conduct training flights, determine student proficiency, report on student progress. They are responsible for training students in subjects such as aircraft systems, operating procedures, handling emergencies, problem analysis, aircraft navigation, radio operation and aerodynamics.
An Instrument flight instructor should be able to present himself as a role model who follows all the safety rules and adheres by legal regulations. He or she should have a passion for teaching and create a positive learning environment and have high level of patience. He or she should be comfortable in evaluating the performance of the students and determining their individual needs for training, rating them, and making them confident by minimizing their frustration levels when on flights.
