Position Description

The Associate Director of Development and Director of Annual Giving oversees a two-person team and is responsible for developing, implementing, and organizing creative strategies within Annual Giving. The Director is a strategist, manager, and fundraiser who works closely with leaders in the Pingry community to build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external constituents across multiple constituencies. Their ability to deeply understand the community, collaborate with necessary stakeholders, and assess potential outcomes is key to their success in this role. The Associate Director of Development and Director of Annual Giving report directly to the Director of Development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of 55 leadership annual fund prospects.
  • Coordinate, manage, and motivate a team of two development professionals who focus their efforts on engaging our community and securing annual philanthropic support within a culture of mutual respect where success is celebrated and failure is looked at as an opportunity for growth rather than something to be avoided at all costs.
  • In partnership with the Director of Development, set annual Pingry Fund goals, manage Pingry Fund co-chairs, and execute leadership solicitations. Assess metrics to measure the success of the goals on a regular basis throughout the year.
  • Oversee the annual design and implementation of Ring the Bell: Pingry's Annual Celebration of Giving.
  • Oversee the design and creation of all appeals and printed materials related to The Pingry Fund.
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the Pingry Fund. Manage the development and implementation of engagement initiatives consistent with the goals of the School.
  • Work with Communications to develop and implement a communications strategy that informs and excites our alumni and parent communities so that they become or remain Pingry donors and active community members.
  • Oversee a calendar of cultivation and stewardship events that engage our diverse alumni community across the country and around the world
  • Be highly visible within the alumni/ae and parent communities via participation in campus and off-campus events and meetings, as well as with ongoing individual cultivation meetings with potential Pingry Fund donors and prospects

  • Possess a commitment to DEIB and the requisite skills to interact with diverse constituency groups within and external to the School community.
  • Ability to work productively and proactively within expressed timelines while identifying any obstacles to success and finding solutions with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with various constituents while looking for opportunities to streamline processes and create synergy across constituencies.
  • Deep understanding of strategies across annual giving and community engagement.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop long-term relationships across the School community.
  • Comfort with working with senior administrators and volunteer leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in fundraising or related industry, with demonstrated success in annual giving strategy, gift solicitation, and volunteer management
  • Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills; analytical and strategic thinking capabilities; well-refined project management skills, initiative and creative energy
    Knowledge of Veracross preferred
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.)
  • A valid driver's license and ability to drive
