The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia has openings for postdoctoral researchers. We study seizures and status epilepticus. We are studying seizure circuits activated during focal frontal and temporal lobe seizures. We are also interested in seizure circuits active during seizures in genetic generalized epilepsies. We are also studying the role of lactate and other free fatty acid in modulating seizures and neuronal excitability. We mentor and provide training in the neurobiology of epilepsy, imaging, and electrophysiology techniques. We also train in manuscript and grant preparation, and presentation at meetings. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in neuroscience or biomedical science, or a related discipline and a passion for scientific inquiry.
