Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our team. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating engaging activities for our residents in a nursing home setting. Your role will involve creating a positive and stimulating environment that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities and programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of our residents
- Coordinate and schedule activities such as games, crafts, outings, music therapy, exercise classes, and special events
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure that activities are tailored to individual resident preferences and abilities
- Assess residents' needs and interests through regular interactions and observations
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who require additional assistance or have specific care needs
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to activities programming in a nursing home setting
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a similar role as an Activities Director or in a related field such as social work, recreational therapy, or caregiving is preferred
- Knowledge of aging issues, dementia care, and memory care is highly desirable
- Familiarity with assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) is beneficial
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members
- Strong organizational skills to plan and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously
- Creativity and the ability to develop innovative activity programs
- Empathy and patience when working with elderly individuals
- Ability to adapt activities based on individual resident needs and interests
