Overview
The Richardson School is now accepting applications for a facilities Maintenance position at our Appleton location! The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the facility and grounds of the school according to standards set by the State and School.
The Richardson School provides a year-round school option for local districts to access for children with special needs. Typically, these children have been dually diagnosed with developmental or neurological disabilities and emotional, behavioral or mental health disorders.

Responsibilities
- Reviews and responds to maintenance work requests, assesses items quickly and either completes work timely or informs Day School Director that scope of repair/request requires external expertise. Completes cost estimates, draws plans, and contacts contractors for special projects (remodeling, additions, etc.) Oversees work completed by external service contractors reporting any issues to Day School Director.
- Completes routine internal maintenance tasks such as priming and painting; repairing walls; unclogging drains and toilets; changing light bulbs; etc. Maintains boiler and air conditioner informing Day School Director when service need is beyond expertise. Ensures fire inspections are completed timely.
- Monitors the care and use of departmental and School supplies, materials and equipment. Maintains all equipment, tools, motors, appliances and machinery used by employees of the School including School vehicles either though own actions or attaining services through vendors. Follows policies and procedures for care, repair and replacement.
- In partnership with Day School Director, identifies and purchases supplies for the Maintenance Department/School as needed; completes purchase orders and submits receipts for all purchases to the Day School Director timely.

- Part-Time, First Shift
- Pay Rate $18/hr
Qualifications
To be considered for this job, you must meet the following requirements.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in at least 5 of the following: restoration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, snow removal, and boiler/air conditioner maintenance.
- Remains calm under pressure and maintains self-composure/self-control in times of high stress or when others are excited.
