Position Summary:
The Richland Hospital, Inc currently is seeking an innovative, high energy professional to lead our Medical-Surgical Department. The Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Director is an administrative leader who is responsible for implementing the organizational and departmental mission, vision, and goals for the Med-Surg Department. The Director has the oversight responsibility of all aspects of staff management, departmental management, and for creating a professional practice environment that focuses on all patients including in-patients, outpatients, swingbed and respite. Administrative responsibilities include review and approval of annual work-plans, budget preparation, performance reviews and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and other regulatory requirements, such as; The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS etc. The Director, as a Registered Nurse, practices in an inpatient unit by providing nursing services and serves as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing, or related field preferred
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Wisconsin
- Previous leadership role in a healthcare setting preferred
- Three years of inpatient nursing experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS or PEARS certification required (or completion within 1 year of hire).
The Medical-Surgical Unit Nursing Director works cooperatively and collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team. Demonstrates a positive public image towards patients, visitors, and fellow employees through courteous, respectful and cooperative behavior. Effectively and consistently communicates to VP / CNO and participates in interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
