JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
Under supervision of Supervisor of Bus Services, service crew employee sweep, wash, fuel, empty fare boxes and make checks of engine oil, coolant and transmission fluid levels, adding appropriate fluids as necessary on all Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority vehicles. Perform major cleaning of all vehicle interior surfaces and glass when necessary to maintain a high level of cleanliness for public use.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Fuel, wash, and service vehicles (including revenue and staff vehicles) on a daily basis, recording fuel amounts pumped on designated fuel sheets.
- Check all engine oil, transmission, and coolant levels daily, adding appropriate fluids as necessary and recording amounts added.
- Probe and empty all fare boxes and cash boxes and record fare box register reading.
- Check all tires for wear and damage and fill if low. Record all hub odometer or odometer readings.
- Note vehicle defects, i.e., body damage, seat damage, broken glass, fare box malfunction, vandalism or lights out on the vehicle's condition card in designated location and report to Service Crew - Lead or Supervisor. Replace used condition card with new condition card.
- Sweep and/or vacuum floors, including driver platforms, wash floors, clean windows, dust all window ledges, dash areas, wheelhouses, and fixtures daily.
- Wash all vehicle exterior surfaces, including wheels, daily.
- Retrieve and re-position vehicles from and to assigned parking positions and record the position of vehicles parked each night.
- Clean or shampoo bus seats as needed.
- Clean up debris in bus storage area and service lanes at the conclusion of each work shift.
- Other related duties, as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from high school or E.D. and some limited experience in the repair of motor coaches or other automotive equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the knowledge, skill and ability may be considered.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Constant periods of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception and accommodation.
- Some periods of sitting.
- Frequent periods of standing and walking, climbing ladders, stooping, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to noise, fumes, smoke, chemicals, fuels, cleaners, lubricants, steam, water, heat, and Heavy-duty vehicle repair facility environment.
